April 24, 2000 - MORGAN, Gordon K. - Passed away suddenly on Monday, April 24, 2000, at his residence in Seal Cove, Gordon K. Morgan, age 83 years. Honorary life member of Telephone Pioneers. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Somerton), 1995. Leaving to mourn nephews: Carl Morgan (Annette), William Butler, U.S.A., Robert Eaton, U.S.A., Richard Eaton, U.S.A. and special nephew Jarrett Morgan, Halifax. Nieces: Doris Bishop (Ellis), Bernice Haines, Norma Dawe (Tom), Ruth Coates (Eric), Glenys White (Eric), Hilda Mercer, Eleanor Stokes (Les), Rosemary Richards (Roger), Darlene Dawe (Ivan), special niece Carolyn Morgan, Yellowknife; sisters-in-law Violet Churchill, Ethel Somerton, Isabel Farr, U.S.A. Also a large circle of family & friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews until 12:00 noon, Thursday. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at St. Peter`s Church, Upper Gullies. Interment to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.

September 2, 2000 - MORGAN, (Somerton) Elsie - Passed peacefully away at Dr. Walter Templeman Hospital, Bell Island on Sept. 2, 2000, in her 95th year. Left to mourn with loving memories: son Joseph and wife Hilda, Bell Island. Two grandchildren, Michelle Keough (Bill), Bell Island; Joe and wife Bonnie, Ontario. One great-grandchild Joseph Patrick David as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast Funeral Home. Funeral Service on Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at 2 p.m. in St. Cyprian`s Church with interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Bell Island.

June 23, 2001 - CHURCHILL, Violet R. - Passed peacefully away at her home in Topsail on Saturday, June 23, 2001, Violet R. Churchill (nee Somerton), in her 88th year. Predeceased by her husband Ches; only son Bert; brother Harold Somerton; sister Mary Morgan. Leaving to mourn: her daughter-in-law Leona; grandson Chesley (Renee); four granddaughters: Arlene O`Brien (Aiden), Dallas Hillier (Elvis), Cynthia (Chris White), Vivian (Deon Whitty); four great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Jill, Jacqueline and Teddy O`Brien; special niece Eleanor Stokes; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Resting a Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-10 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Monday. The Funeral Service will be held at Topsail United Church at a time to be announced later.

July 5, 2001 - EARLE, Katherine Somerton (Kay) - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, July 5, 2001, Katherine Earle (Kay) of Portugal Cove, age 70 years. Predeceased by parents Edward and Laura Earle; two brothers: Herbert and Harold. Leaving to mourn sister Hazel Sullivan; nephew Rick Sullivan; also a large circle of friends. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Funeral Service from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove on Monday, July 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. Interment in St. Peter`s Cemetery, Portugal Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Lawrence Anglican Church Building Fund.

February 24, 2002 - SOMERTON, Harold James - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, February 24, 2002, Harold James Somerton, age 73 years. Predeceased by brother Gordon. Leaving to mourn, loving wife Thelma (nee Clarke); children: Gordon (June), Elsie Higgins (Alfred), Harold (Fern), Grant (Cheryl), Tammy Moss (Bill), Ray (Denise) and Nancy Somerton; grandchildren, David and Sherril, Lorie Hopkins (Curtis) and Blaine, Justin and Jeremy, Rhonda, Kenneth and Chelsea, Nathan and Jasmine; brother Carmen Dyke; sisters, Violet Hussey, of Montreal, Elsie Mussuci (Louie) of New York, Nina Gosine (Tony) and Wilhemina Miller (Wilfred); sister-in-law, Phyllis Somerton; other relatives and a large number of friends. Special thank you to the staff of 4 North A for their caring and support. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. from 2-10 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday February 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Bauline Line.
