February 10, 1886 - William Daw - Harbour Grace Standard 10 Feb 1886 At Greenspond, on the 10th inst., aged 32 years

Friday, July 19,1985 – The Halifax Herald Walter Dawe, Glace Bay – 96 of 145 Tenth St., Glace Bay, died Wednesday in Glace Bay Community Hospital. Born in Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Dawe. A member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, he was the oldest 
member of Branch 3, Royal Canadian Legion. He was a  veteran of the First and Second World Wars. He was a former member of the Orange Lodge and was recently made an honorary member of the Canadian Eighth Army. He is a retired coal miner.  He is survived by his wife the former Kathleen Hind; six daughters, Kathleen, Mrs. Thomas MacQueen; Winnie, Mrs. Dorman Warren; Mrs. Margaret Nauss; Florence, Mrs. Herbert Nash, all of Glace Bay; Gladys, Mrs. Fred Poole of 
Cambridge, Ont.; and Evelyn, Mrs. Floyd Shand, Dartmouth;  43 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Richard and James, and two daughters, Lillian, Mrs. Bob Sullivan and Florence. The body is in V.J.MacGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Funeral will be 11 am. Saturday in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Rev. 
Fev. Arnold officiating. Burial will be made in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.

May 12,1986 The Halifax Herald - Edith Kathleen Dawe, Glace Bay – Edith Kathleen Dawe of 
145 Tenth St., Glace Bay died Friday at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Born in England, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Emma (Hattam) Hind. She was a member of the LOBA Lodge of New Aberdeen and the Mother’s Club at Warden Church.  She is survived by two sons, James and Richard; six daughters, Kathleen McEwen; Margaret Nauss; Winnifred, (Mrs. Dorman Warren); Florence, (Mrs. Herb Nash), all of Glace Bay; Gladys, (Mrs. Fred Poole), Cambridge, Ont.; 
Evelyn, (Mrs. Floyd Shond), Dartmouth, N.S.; 42 grandchildren and 88 great grandchildren.
The body is in V.J.MacGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Funeral will be Monday at 2 pm. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Rev. Fev. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

 

May 24, 1999 - DAWE, Ruby - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Monday, May 24, 1999 Ruby Dawe (Brown), in her 69th year. Leaving to mourn her husband of 47 years, Irvine; two daughters: Maxine (Dwight) Blackwood, Jeanette Meehan (John Dyke); five grandchildren: Tara, Tennille, Courtney, Joshua Blackwood and Chris Meehan; also one great-grandchild Jordan Blackwood; two brothers: Brian (Shirley) Brown, New Harbour and Don (Jenny) Brown, Belleville, Ont.; and a special aunt Lilla Greenslade. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Funeral Service from Wesley United Church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Wesley United Church. "May she rest in peace."

April 7, 2000 -WITHERS, Dorothy C. (nee Dawe) - Passed peacefully away at her residence, St. John`s, on Saturday, April 7th, 2000, Dorothy C. Withers, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Patrick, son Kevin and daughter Carol Ann. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, sons: Gordon, wife Betty, St. John`s, Patrick, wife Anne, Toronto, Terry, wife Annette, Montreal, David, Toronto, Bob, wife Toni, with whom she resided, St. John`s; daughters: Elizabeth, Toronto, Dorothy Greene, husband Ray, St. John`s and Joan Boland, husband Phonse, Mount Pearl; one sister Phyllis Andrews, husband Alec, St. John`s; also eleven grandchildren; plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Military Road, on Wednesday, April 11th at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

November 23, 2001 - DAWE, Janet D. (nee Morris) - Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on Friday, November 23, 2001, Janet Dawe, aged 70 years. Predeceased by her husband Clifford, son Walter and brother James. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Guy (Lillian), Glen (Janice), Kevin (Caroline), Ronald, Eric (Tina), Dyrall (Lisa); daughters Dora Dawe (Ken), Freda Chaulk (Cliff), Roselyn Dawe (Harvey), and Angela Dawe (Pat); daughter-in-law Yvonne Dawe; special friend Norman Wells; 18 beloved grandchildren and one cherished great-granddaughter; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, after 2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral service to take place on Monday, November 26, 2001, at 2 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. December 6, 2001 - DAWE, John James - Passed peacefully away at his home in Long Pond, on Thursday, December 6, 2001, after a lengthy illness, John James Dawe, age 80 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Frances, two sons: Randolph (Blanche), Gordon (friend Gertie); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews, until Noon Sunday. Funeral will take place on Sunday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Church, Foxtrap. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Church Road, Foxtrap.

November 19, 2002 - DAWE, Philip - Passed peacefully away, in the presence of his loving family, at the Health Sciences Centre, on Tuesday, November 19, 2002, Philip Dawe, aged 81 years, of Upper Gullies. Predeceased by his loving wife Merida, 1994. Left to mourn daughter Ruby (Robert); sons: Wayne and Bill (Susan); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Leslie (Ruby) and sister Blanche; also a very special friend Mary Dunne, and a large circle of relatives and friends. November 21, 2002 - DAWE, Mary Jane (Janie) - Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord at the Health Sciences Complex on Thursday, November 21, 2002, Mary Jane Dawe, Long Pond, age 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence, 1988. Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her home coming are three sons: George (Laura), Roy (Doreen) and Ron; one daughter, Judy Mercer (David); ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Annie Mae Butler. Janie was also loved and will be missed by many other relatives and friends. She is resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation on Saturday 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Funeral Service on Sunday, November 24, at 2 p.m. at Faith Pentecostal Church, Foxtrap Access Road. Interment at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Readers Hill, Long Pond.

January 24, 2003 - DAWE, Stan - Passed peacefully away on Friday, January 24, 2003, of Upper Gullies, age 63 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Sandra, daughters, Fran Rideout (Norm); Tina Kightly (Paul); four dearly loved grandchildren, Courtney, Mitchell, Ryan and Brianna, one brother Charlie (Rose). May 11, 2003 - DAWE, Nelson - Passed suddenly away at the Health Sciences Center on Sunday, May 11, 2003, Nelson Dawe, Upper Gullies, aged 72 years. Predeceased by daughters: Sharon, 1987 and Janice, 1996. Leaving to mourn his devoted and loving wife of 49 years Gladys; daughters: Maxine Mahoney (Eddy) and Jackie; four sons: David (Betty), Wade (Germaine), Greg (Darlene), Craig (Renee); eleven precious grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters, and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation on Tuesday 10-12 noon, 2-5 p.m., 7-9:30 p.m., Wednesday 10-12 noon.
